How do you organize your trips?

Understanding why, with so many travel itinerary planning apps available, people still prefer to create their itinerary using Notion, Word, or WhatsApp, and doing some discovery and prototyping on the ideal app for creating/selling itineraries.

About travel itineraries

Interviewing people who travel regularly, it is understood (in Brazil) that they do not use a specific application to create itineraries, and looking at the itinerary sales market, they sell the itineraries as PDFs.

Interviewing people to understand how they organize their trips and their willingness to buy ready-made itineraries.

An interview script was created to understand:

- How do people organize themselves to travel?

- Do they usually organize a travel itinerary?

- What application or method do they use to organize?

- Have they ever thought about buying or have they bought itineraries?

How do people organize itineraries?

Do they have any experience with purchasing itineraries?

I organize my trips in a document on Notion

Woman, 27

Travel more than 6 times a year, alone or with friends

I organize my trips in a Whatsapp chat

Woman, 37

Travels twice a year, alone, with friends or facily

I organize my trips in a word document

Man, 30

Travels once a year with family

Do they have any experience with purchasing itineraries?

I've never bought one, I don't think it's for my backpacking profile, but maybe i would if it was cheap and from some very specific people that i follow.

Woman, 27

"Every trip i feel like i missed out an important place"

I never bought it, a frind who lives solely of the income from selling itinenaries to NY gave me one, but i ended up not using it, because the pdf was difficult to open on the trip.

Woman, 37

"You can't organize too much, otherwise you won't take advantage of it"

I already bought it, and it was very good, but i didn't follow it to the letter, I used the pdf of the itinerary to see places and tips and add it to my word document.

Man, 30

"Ever feel like you missed out on a good place because of lack of time or money?"

People don't want a super travel planner, just a place to list the places they're traveling to, as easy as organizing them in a Notion or on WhatsApp.

PDFs are not a good way to access information on itineraries purchased mid-trip and are not editable or customizable.

In Notion, WhatsApp, and Word, I don't need to create a new account, and I have no barriers to sharing the itinerary, but in both, I need to copy the information and go to another app to see a map.

UI references

Creating a UI moodboard with clean and clear interface references

Too much steps

Most apps require users to go through many steps before creating a route, requesting permissions, presenting plans, and requesting registration.

Login forms

Some applications still require registration via form, without integration with Google or app

Unnecessary requests

Most apps request location, notifications, and user activity permissions before explaining why they're asking for those permissions.
